LOCATION
The Camping Fontemaggio is located in Assisi, nestled in the greenery of Mount Subasio and about 15 minutes’ walk from the historic center, accessible via a country road. The campground is situated along the ancient road leading to the Eremo delle Carceri, in an area steeped in Franciscan tradition and close to places of prayer and contemplation in the woods. The location also offers easy access and the ability to park cars, RVs, and buses near the entrance. Nearby are the Eremo delle Carceri and the historic center of Assisi; tours and donkey treks are also organized upon reservation.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND SITES
The campground features numerous campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents, as well as ample space for tour buses. The complex also offers various lodging options. The Villino Sole and the Villino Luna, both recently built, each feature two double or twin bedrooms with private bathrooms and showers, a kitchen, a dining room with a sofa bed, TVs in the bedrooms, basic kitchenware, and independent heating. They are located within the campground, about 100 meters from the hotel and the restaurant.

The vacation apartments, spread throughout the campground, hotel, and hostel areas, are self-contained and brick-built, with a bathroom, dining room, kitchen, independent heating, sheets, and towels. They also feature a dedicated outdoor area surrounded by greenery; daily housekeeping is not provided.

The Fontemaggio Hostel is located within the campground and offers single, double, and quadruple rooms, for a total of 49 beds. The rooms have a bathroom with a shower, sheets, and a towel for each guest; they do not have a television and are not cleaned daily. The facility features a common room, washing machine, dryer, and spacious kitchen. The outdoor garden is flat, with fences and wooden tables.

AMENITIES
The complex features a Bar/Market/Tobacco Shop housed in a former barn, offering coffee, artisanal ice cream, hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, fresh-squeezed juices, and aperitifs. The market offers bread, basic necessities, fresh fruits and vegetables, household goods, and accessories for RV travelers. Outside, there are seating areas and some playground equipment for children.

The La Stalla Restaurant serves traditional Umbrian cuisine with specialties such as torta al testo, polenta with sausages, bigoli, beans with pork rinds, grilled meats and cheeses, potatoes and onions cooked under the ashes, and typical Umbrian desserts. The property also features parking and Wi-Fi in the hotel’s common areas.

ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
The playground, surrounded by greenery and shaded by trees, features a merry-go-round, slide, and swing set. Educational programs are also available for preschool, elementary, and middle school students.

The location is ideal for those who wish to combine a stay in nature with cultural visits and outdoor activities. The area offers the opportunity to organize, by reservation, tours and trekking with donkeys, while its proximity to the Eremo delle Carceri and the historic center of Assisi makes it ideal for walks and hikes. The 17th-century private chapel dedicated to Saint Francis of Paola is another point of interest within the complex.
