Camping Olympia
LOCATION
The Camping Olympia is located in Dobbiaco, in the green heart of the Dolomites, in Alta Pusteria, surrounded by lush meadows and dense forests and offering a view of the spectacular Dolomite peaks. This location allows you to reach some of South Tyrol’s most famous destinations in just a few minutes, including Lake Braies and the Three Peaks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dobbiaco is also an ideal starting point for exploring the area by bike, on foot, or via public transportation. The surrounding area offers bike paths, hiking trails, downhill and cross-country skiing opportunities, events, and Christmas markets.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The campground has 200 campsites measuring approximately 90 m², as well as smaller spots for tents. The campsites are equipped with TV connections and 16-amp electrical hookups. Accommodations also include the Alpine Lodges, elegant mobile homes designed for glamping, featuring high-quality natural materials, modern and rustic furnishings, South Tyrolean wooden furniture, ergonomic and organic mattresses, large panoramic windows, and an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The Alpine Lodges feature 36 m² of living space, a 12 m² terrace, and a private herb garden, with CasaClima-certified Energy Class A; some listings indicate a capacity of 2 to 6 people. The area includes nine lodges arranged around a fireplace and an Alpine Sauna with a Finnish sauna.
Camping Olympia also offers nine vacation apartments of various sizes, each featuring a bedroom, bathroom, living room with kitchenette, and balcony. Apartments ranging from 35 m² for 2–3 people to large apartments of 45 m² for 2–4 people are available; the apartments are also described as suitable for 2–6 people and may include bunk beds and a sofa bed. Pets are not allowed in the lodges or apartments, while dogs are allowed in the campground area.
AMENITIES
On the premises, guests will find a supermarket, a restaurant-pizzeria, a snack bar, RV service, gas refueling, swimming pool, playground, mini-zoo, bike rental, ski storage, drying room, barbecue areas, laundry facilities, wheelchair-accessible laundry, individual shower stalls, dishwashers, and grooming area. There is also an outdoor pool with a children’s pool and an indoor pool with a children’s pool. The wellness area includes an experience shower, Turkish bath, Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, bio-sauna, outdoor hot tub, and outdoor shower.
The Samyr restaurant and pizzeria serves Mediterranean specialties, South Tyrolean dishes, and pizza, while the Baita offers Tyrolean cuisine and aperitifs. The wine cellar houses over 300 labels and hosts wine tastings. The supermarket offers fresh bread, croissants, dairy products, beverages, fruits and vegetables, cold cuts, eggs, jams, cakes, pastries, organic and local products, personal care items, and camping accessories.
ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities to enjoy the mountains in every season. Guests can enjoy hiking, cycling, mountain biking, downhill skiing, and cross-country skiing, as well as visits to Lake Braies and the Three Peaks. The campground also organizes two guided mountain bike tours per week and offers a shuttle service in winter.
The animal park, located just beyond the bridge behind the campground, is home to over 60 animals of various species, including diamond pheasants, ponies, and meerkats. For mountain lovers, Camping Olympia also serves as a base for exploring the Dolomites and their trails. The campground’s family history, managed by the Klettenhammer family, is accompanied by the presence of Oly, the campground’s squirrel mascot, a symbol of the campground nestled on the edge of the forest.
