Just a five-minute walk from the center of St. Leonhard in Passeier, Zögghof Campsite—run by Ulrich and Heidi Pirpamer—offers 38 pitches for caravans and motorhomes, a grassy area for tents, and eight stylishly furnished bungalows. Terraced across a scenic hillside, every pitch enjoys stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The site is an ideal destination for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, thanks to its peaceful setting and warm, personalized service.
Modern Facilities in a Four-Star Setting
Covering an area of around one hectare, the campsite is designed to provide four-star comfort. The 38 terraced pitches are spacious and well-organized, ranging from 80 to 130 square meters, and include direct electricity connections (from 6 to 16 amps) and TV hookups. Guests have access to modern, well-maintained sanitary facilities, as well as washing machines and dryers. Showers and restrooms meet the highest technical and hygiene standards. Two private bathrooms with shower and toilet can be reserved for an additional fee. Tent campers can enjoy their stay on a dedicated lawn area, with access to shared sanitary facilities.
Bungalows: Comfort Close to Nature
For guests who prefer extra comfort, Zögghof offers eight beautifully designed bungalows that blend modern convenience with natural surroundings. Each 8-by-3-meter unit features a cozy living area with a fully equipped kitchenette and dining space, along with a sleeping area containing one double bed and a set of bunk beds. Thanks to their tranquil setting, the bungalows offer an immersive nature experience. Local culinary specialties such as smoked bacon and sausages can be purchased from the nearby Zögghof farm, also operated by the Pirpamer family.
An Ideal Base for Outdoor Adventures
Surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, the Passeier Valley is a paradise for hikers. The nearby Texel Group Nature Park features lush alpine meadows, crystal-clear mountain lakes, rushing streams, and dramatic waterfalls. The famous Merano High Mountain Trail stretches 100 kilometers through this pristine environment. Zögghof Campsite is ideally located for exploring the region—directly along the Passer Gorge Trail that leads from St. Leonhard to Moso, showcasing stunning rock formations shaped by water over time. The well-marked cycling path from St. Leonhard to Merano also runs past the campsite, following the river Passer to the Merano Thermal Baths. On the way back, a visit to the Andreas Hofer Museum at Sandwirt offers a glimpse into local history.
