Riva Bella Thalasso & Spa: Where the Sea Becomes Healing

  2026-08-19

What is Riva Bella's naturist thalassotherapy?
Halfway between Porto-Vecchio and Bastia, right on the naturist beach, the Riva Bella naturist thalassotherapy centre covers 500 m² dedicated to body and mind. Mediterranean water is drawn from the open sea, then filtered and heated for treatments. The presence of the Terrenzana salt marsh gives these waters an exceptional concentration of negative ions, as well as iodine, trace elements and zooplankton, renowned since antiquity for their therapeutic properties.

Why choose seawater specifically?
The name itself tells the story: thalassotherapy comes from the Greek "thalassa", sea, and "therapeuin", to heal. It contains everything — sodium, calcium, potassium, zinc, iodine, iron, chromium, manganese. Looser joints, relaxing muscles, tension that eases away little by little. And the effects don't stop there: improved breathing, strengthened metabolism, more red blood cells, better fixation of calcium and phosphorus, increased muscle and heart tone, easier elimination of toxins. Mind and body unwind together, cell by cell, breath by breath.

What makes the treatment experience unique?
Riva Bella's thalassotherapy treatments are combined with Corsican essential oils, extracted from wild and endemic plants of the Mediterranean maquis: a true concentrate of nature, 100% Corsican. Among the centre's offerings: naturist marine hydrotherapy, traditional oriental hammam, bio-sauna, seaweed applications, respiratory and anti-stress treatments, scrubs and various massages, to enjoy in customisable packages, alone or in a group.

Where is it located and what surrounds it?
The centre is part of the Domaine de Riva Bella, a 79-hectare estate nestled between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Terrenzana lagoons, scented by the fragrances of the surrounding Mediterranean maquis. Wooden chalets, stone bungalows, mini villas and villas, some by the sea and others in the maquis, are designed for privacy and comfort, with equipped kitchens for those wishing to extend their relaxing stay. On site: a restaurant serving Corsican and Mediterranean cuisine, nature trails including a 3 km fitness route through the heart of the maquis, a llama park, and water sports such as paddleboarding, canoeing and windsurfing.

Can you stay active during your stay?
Yes, and quite a lot. Jérôme, the centre's sports coach, offers sessions suited to all ages and levels: pilates, HIIT, longe côte (walking in water), Nordic walking, fitball, aquagym in the thalassotherapy's marine circuit, glute and ab work, stretching, guided relaxation sessions and even paddleboard fitness. Just show up at the meeting point indicated in the programme, no advance sign-up required.

Who is this experience for?
For over twenty years, Riva Bella Thalasso & Spa has welcomed those seeking wellness — alone, as a couple, with family or friends — offering individual, personalised care at every stage of treatment. The beauticians are all qualified and trained, and treatments are available from age 16. Here, the sea is not just scenery: it is an active part of the cure, in a corner of Corsica where nature seems to have paused deliberately to welcome those who need to breathe.
