Camping Villages in PozzuoliGuide of Campsites and Holiday Parks for your Holiday
Some touristic information
Pozzuoli is located in the province of Naples in the region of Campania. Once the site of Greek and Roman colonies, the city is now the largest settlement on the Phlegrean Peninsula.
Sights and Attractions
There are several roman ruins throughout Pozzuoli. The columns of Macellum of Pozzuoli are remnants of a Roman market built in the late first and early second centuries, and the Flavian Amphitheatre is the third largest Roman amphitheatre in Italy. This magnificent construct once held 20,000 people.
The Regional Natural Park of Campi Flegrei is home to several archeological sites and Solfatara, a dormant volcanic crater that still emits steam. Camping is popular in the park, which is home to lakes Averno, Lucrine and Fusaro. Nature trails are also found at the Astroni Crater Nature Reserve, a popular destination for bird watching.
Naples is less than a half hour’s drive east of Pozzuoli. Ferries from Pozzuoli link to nearby islands, including Isola d’Ischia and Isola di Procida.
