Some touristic information
Part of the Phlegrean Islands, Isola d’Ischia is a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The mountainous island is famous for its thermal spas and is a popular holiday destination.
Sights and Attractions
The striking Aragonese Castle, the island's most popular attraction, was built on a volcanic rock in 474 BC and a bridge - built in the fifteenth century - connects the castle with the island. Other popular sites on the island include the gardens of La Mortella and Villa Ravino.
The peak of Monte Epomeo can be reached by foot or by riding a mule. The mountain offers panoramic views of the island, the Bay of Naples and Capri and sailing around the island is a great way to see remote shorelines that are only accessibly by boat.
Regular boats link Ischia with Naples, which is about 30 kilometres from the island. The capital of Campania, Naples is one of Italy’s largest cities and its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
